@ryan told me this was a comedy, but I don't believe it. I'll have to watch it a second time through that lens. Something about connecting someone's trauma to a cycle of despair that de facto ruins their life made me feel too sorry for the characters to view things through a comedic lens.
Still, I very much enjoyed this movie.
