Because the Beasts Came: A Dark Romantic Fantasy (Wells of Istri)

To save her people, she must go undercover among her enemies. To keep her cover, she must survive him. For fifteen years, Iryana has held the wall against the monsters ravaging the land. Now, her clan can't hold the border much longer and to save her family, she must face a deadlier threat: infiltrating a brutal rival military outpost. She expects a death sentence, but she doesn't expect Pyetar—the lethal enforcer who tracks her every move with suspicion. Yet despite his threats, he’s the one who keeps saving her life. As the lines between enemy and ally blur, Iryana must guard her heart. In a world of monsters, the beasts outside the gates are far less terrifying than the danger of letting him in. Because the Beasts Came is the first book in the Wells of Istri duology, a new slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, epic romantic fantasy series that combines the monster-filled world and undercover heroines of Shield of Sparrows, the fierce female warriors of The Legends of Thezmarr and the slow burn of The Serpent & The Wings of Night.
