Dreams and reality: a memoir

"Shifra Lipshitz's memoir tells the story of her fifty-year sojourn in the Soviet Union that began as idealized infatuation and, following a ten-year gulag incarceration, ended with radical disillusionment. The book is an unflinching, vivid eyewitness account of the dehumanization perpetrated by the Soviet state against its own citizens."-- Provided by publisher.
