I Don't Belong to You

In this gripping, nuanced young adult debut, a queer girl fights for her right to privacy from her influencer mother. As the daughter of a prominent momfluencer, Miracle Gray has been internet famous since before she was born. When her mom accidentally partners with a homophobic brand and Mira is outed as gay in the aftermath, Mira must become the Loudest and Proudest Queer Teen on the Internet to prevent her family's livelihood from collapsing. This means joining her school's Gender & Sexuality Alliance, where she's paired on a project with her nemesis, Hailey. But when the club embraces her and the ice between her and Hailey turns to fireworks, Mira sees what her life could be like if it wasn't fodder for content. So when another humiliating video goes viral and her mom does nothing to protect her, Mira must find the courage to take control of her online footprint. Propulsive and thought-provoking, I Don't Belong to You confronts the dark side of influencer culture and asks: Do children have a right to their own autonomy?
