Inspiratio

"Narrated by Chronos, the voice of earthly Time, "Inspiratio" serves as a sequel or complement to "Suspirium," in which the central character's love interest, Elza, was elusive and enigmatic. In "Inspiratio" we finally learn Elza's story, delving into her past but also watching her navigate the present as she attempts to begin a new chapter of her life. Unlike Fields, the hero of "Suspirium" who lived a life barren of poetry, myth, and transcendence, Elza is an artist who lives so high in the clouds that she has become homeless on this earth. If Fields's life was straitjacketed and sterile in the arms of Chronos, Elza's life has been as weightless and cold as deep space in the ethereal grip of Kairos. Fields's story took place in a mythical landscape, whereas Elza's story takes place here on earth where the clocks are still ticking-because while Fields needed an injection of Kairos before passing into the next life, Elza needs Chronos if she is to truly live in this one. The catalyst for Elza's redemption journey is the resurfacing of her childhood friend James, a man now imprisoned for murder.
