Locked in the Psych Ward: A Memoir of Broken Promises and False Confessions

Locked in the Psych Ward: A Memoir of Broken Promises and False Confessions A woman struggling with severe sexual compulsions is admitted to a prestigious psychiatric ward, where her unethical psychiatrist ignores her actual problem and instead "treats" her as a victim of satanic ritual abuse. He overmedicates her with powerful drugs and uses discredited forms of "therapy," leaving her worse off than before. The year is 1985, and Weaver is under the care of Dr. Bennett Braun. He and his partner, Dr. Bobbi, who lacks mental health training and experience, use drugs and bogus “recovered memory therapy” to convince her that she spent years in a cult where she sacrificed her babies and committed other heinous acts. Every page of Jamie Weaver’s captivating memoir shows how she stayed sane through one frightening experience after another. Locked in the Psych Ward offers readers a deep personal insight into how psychological issues can drive individuals to compromise their values in the quest for the elusive promise of help.
