Mahogany Mysteries

Sam Silva’s grandma went missing at twenty-one years old--and nobody knows why. And Sam hasn’t cared about that fact too much until she’s with her friends at their creek and they discover the very clues needed to unravel the mystery of her fate. But the investigation process doesn’t go as smoothly as she hopes, especially while she’s trying to keep her backstabbing ex-best friend out of her life who so desperately wants back in. Nearly eighty years before, Lucia Silva’s life is changed forever when she is thrown into a marriage with a man she doesn’t know in a foreign country she is now expected to live in. She tries her best to survive the hardships of marriage, motherhood, and war… but nothing seems to be easy for an Italian-American woman in the 1940s. Her only comfort is her closest friend, but the mere existence of their companionship puts both of their lives at risk. How did she go from a widely-known citizen to the cover of a tragic missing persons report? And how can Sam, a fifteen-year-old girl, discover the truth that the police couldn’t?
