Nazi Villains in Horror Movies

The real-life horrors committed by the Nazis during the 1930s and early 1940s are well known. The cinema has reacted to this grim period in realistic films like Schindler’s List and The Zone of Interest. There is also an alternative cinema in which their activities are fantasized in sensational tales of terror. The horror film has given us Nazi zombies, Nazi vampires, Nazi werewolves, Nazi mad scientists, Nazi encounters with Frankenstein and Dracula, and more. Martin Nicholas charts this curious phenomenon from its origin in 1933, the year Hitler came to power, right up to the present time.
