Perspective A Father's Memoir
First published 2025
Perspective is a personal account of how author Kenneth Turner grew up in a loving and supportive household and then had to learn how to navigate the vicious streets of South Central Los Angeles as a teenager, finding the one thing that would occupy most of his time and give him a pass from the gang violence, basketball. Using that pass and playing throughout his youth into college, Turner suddenly has to answer that question that all athletes must face when the playing days are over...what do I do now? Quickly deciding that coaching would be his next step, Turner makes a series of bad decisions that put him in a desperate situation and caused him to lose almost everything. When he reaches his lowest point he is surprised by a message that presents his first opportunity to see his situation differently, from a different perspective. This new perspective changes Turner's attitude from one of defeat and despair to victory and hope, and with the new attitude his life completely turns around.
