Poetry Changes Lives: Daily Thoughts on Poetry and History
By Burn, Christopher
First published 2025
Poetry Changes Lives is a page a day of poetry, history and inspiration. The book encourages daily reflection which helps reduce stress and build a positive attitude. Christopher Burn says: "I chose this because poetry really did change my life. I love the way poetry makes me feel. When I am low, it gives me hope, when I am sad, it makes me happy and when I am bored, it motivates me. By changing my feelings, it changes my thoughts and actions - and that is how it changes my life. It can do the same for you." Christopher: "The little details of history fascinate me. I love to hear how Marie Antoinette trod on her executioner's foot and apologised politely - her very last words. Or that William Wordsworth, England's poet laureate for many years, supported the French Revolution, visited France and fathered a daughter there whom he supported for the rest of his life. I think of that when I read his poetry and it gives me new insights.
