The Secret of the Goldfish: A Gloria Treddle Mystery

For fans of Nancy Drew, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Gloria Treddle is many things—budding scientist, fearless fifth-grade detective, and a girl who never stops asking, "Why?" So when her classmate's goldfish, Pokey, turns up mysteriously ill right before the St. Anthony School science fair, Gloria is sure something fishy is going on. With her cheerful sidekick Olly, a notebook full of clues, and an unstoppable sense of justice, Gloria hunts for answers. But the deeper she digs, the more trouble she finds—broken rules, hurt feelings, a stolen envelope of charity money, and an angry miniature poodle. Gloria uncovers a trail of clues that leads through cafeteria kitchens, salty sidewalks, and the most chaotic backyard stakeout ever attempted by a ten-year-old. Heartfelt, hilarious, and bursting with adventure, The Secret of the Goldfish is a middle-grade mystery with real emotional depth.
