Unveiling a Parallel Feminist Science Fiction from the Dawn of the Technological Imagination

Originally published in 1893, Unveiling a Parallel is a forgotten gem of feminist science fiction that imagines a journey to Mars and the discovery of two contrasting utopian societies. Written by Alice Ilgenfritz Jones and Ella Robinson Merchant, this visionary tale examines gender, morality, architecture, and the ethics of science through the lens of otherworldly civilization. This edition, curated by Jason Kassel, PhD, includes a modern introduction, prediction-reality timeline, AI-literacy prompts, and discussion questions for readers, students, and educators. Part of the Foundations of STEM Fiction series, it invites readers to explore the human side of technology-then and now.
