Vevang Family History
First published 2024
This book was written to preserve historical facts for the descendants of Iver Andrew Vevang and Serina Hustad Vevang. At age 22, Iver Andrew Vevang, the youngest son of Jakob Vevang, set sail from Vevang, Norway in 1888 for the United States with high hopes of making a better life for himself. He never saw his home, his father, stepmother, half-brothers, or half-sister again. This book is a timeline of Iver’s life before and after coming to America, which extends beyond the length of his life through his children: Julius, Hilda, Elmer, Ingvald, Selmer, Edvin, Laura, Ella, Alida, Jacob, Myrtle, and Lawrence—and their children, and their children, and so on. Born between 1897 and 1915, the twelve Vevang children were part of a unique generation that was integral to the development of the United States.
