Suicide Of A Nation: Germany Before Hitler

S2E2 · 1969-01-21 · 55 min

An impression of the years which began with the fall of the Kaiser and ended with Hitler's appointment as Chancellor. They are remembered now as the Golden Twenties, a time of change and experiment, of horror films and jazz, of provocative art and spectacular night life, of Hindenburg and the men who came to Weimar fifty years ago to inaugurate Germany's first experiment in democracy. But they were also the years which saw the birth of a new German army and the reorganisation of industry, the growth of new political parties and the economic disaster of the World Slump.
