MOTD2 - 9th August 2015Highlights and analysis of the day's three Premier League matches, plus a round-up of Saturday's action, introduced by Mark Chapman. Arsenal have approached the new season in confident mood after ending the last campaign strongly and retaining the FA Cup. Sunday's opponents West Ham hadn't beaten the Gunners in 15 attempts, but their new manager Slaven Bilic has been backed in the transfer market and set a target of a top-eight finish by the club's owners. There was a managerial bow too for Steve McClaren at Newcastle, who hosted Southampton, while Stoke City faced Liverpool in a repeat of the final day of last season, when the Potters scored five first-half goals as Brendan Rodgers' side were thrashed 6-1.
MOTD2 - 16th August 2015Highlights and analysis of the day's two Premier League matches, plus a round-up of the weekend's earlier action, introduced by Mark Chapman. Champions Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League against last season's runners-up Manchester City since Jose Mourinho returned to the west London club. Mourinho will be looking to extend that run to five games, and with it steal an early march in the fledgling title race. Crystal Palace invested heavily in new signings over the summer, including one-time Arsenal target Yohan Cabaye. The Eagles' new arrivals are sure of a warm reception from the Selhurst Park faithful ahead of their home league debuts as Arsene Wenger's Gunners make the short trip across London.
MOTD2 - 23rd August 2015Mark Chapman introduces highlights of the day's three matches in the Premier League. In the day's early kick-off, West Brom took on champions Chelsea at the Hawthorns. Back in May, the Baggies inflicted a surprise 3-0 defeat on the Blues, but it mattered not to Jose Mourinho, as his side had already secured the title. Everton welcome Manchester City to Goodison Park, meaning an early return to Merseyside for Raheem Sterling, whose controversial move from Liverpool to Man City has been one of the talking points of the summer. In Sunday's other match, Premier League new boys Watford host Southampton at Vicarage Road.
MOTD2 - 30th August 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's two Premier League matches, in which Swansea host Manchester United and Southampton play Norwich. United have spent heavily this summer, with Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin arriving to boost the Red Devils' title chances. However, Louis van Gaal's side face a tough task against a talented Swansea side who beat them at home and away last season. Southampton were one of the Premier League's surprise packages last term, ending seventh in the table to qualify for the Europa League. They face a Norwich side who won promotion from the Championship in 2014-15, just a year after dropping out of the top flight. There's also a chance to see all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 13th September 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's two Premier League matches, in which Sunderland host Tottenham and Leicester face Aston Villa in a Midlands derby. Sunderland will hope to put their early-season struggles behind them when they face Spurs at the Stadium of Light. Last season the Black Cats managed to rescue a point at home to Mauricio Pochettino's side after a late own goal from Harry Kane earned them a 2-2 draw. Leicester started the season in impressive form and will hope they can beat their Midlands rivals at home for the second successive season. Since that 1-0 victory in January, Claudio Ranieri has replaced Nigel Pearson as the Foxes' manager, while Tim Sherwood has taken over the Villa hot seat from Paul Lambert. There's also a chance to see all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 20th September 2015Mark Chapman introduces highlights and analysis of the day's three Premier League matches plus a round-up of the weekend's earlier action. Southampton face Manchester United, a side they beat for the first time in 12 league and cup meetings when they last played. Norwich travel to Liverpool, looking for their first win at Anfield since 1994, whilst the day's other match is a London derby at White Hart Lane between Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
MOTD2 - 27th September 2015Highlights and analysis of the day's Premier League match, plus a round-up of the weekend's earlier action, introduced by Mark Chapman. Newly promoted Watford entertain Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road in what is the first ever top-flight meeting between the two clubs. The last time they faced each other was at Wembley in a dramatic Championship play-off final in 2013, which Palace won in extra time thanks to a Kevin Phillips penalty.
MOTD2 - 4th October 2015Highlights and analysis of the day's three Premier League matches, plus a round-up of the weekend's earlier action, introduced by Mark Chapman with guests Alan Shearer and Ian Wright. The Merseyside derby was the first action of a thrilling day's football, with Liverpool making the short trip to Goodison Park to face local rivals Everton in the early kick-off. The theme of intense rivalry continued, with Manchester United taking on Arsenal. United claimed a first away victory under Louis van Gaal at the Emirates Stadium in this fixture last season. Elsewhere, Tottenham travelled to Swansea.
MOTD2 - 18th October 2015Mark Chapman introduces highlights of the day's Premier League fixture between Newcastle and Norwich, as well as a round-up of all the goals and headlines from Saturday's matches. Newcastle have endured a miserable 2015 and new head coach Steve McClaren has so far been unable to revive their fortunes this season. Having faced last season's top four clubs in his first eight league matches in charge, McClaren now welcomes promoted Norwich, who have continued their impressive progress under 34-year-old manager Alex Neil.
MOTD2 - 25th October 2015Highlights and analysis of the day's three Premier League matches plus a round-up of the weekend's earlier action, introduced by Mark Chapman. Manchester United hosted neighbours Manchester City looking to secure local bragging rights and steal a march in the fledgling title race. United won 4-2 at Old Trafford last season to end a four-game losing streak to City. The north east derby between Sunderland and Newcastle took on added significance with both clubs starting the season poorly. The Black Cats went into the game having won each of the last five league meetings between the sides. The day's other matches saw Bournemouth host Tottenham and Liverpool entertain Southampton.
MOTD2 - 1st November 2015Highlights from the day's two Premier League matches, along with all the goals from Saturday's games. The fixtures included a much-anticipated south coast derby between Southampton and Bournemouth. The teams have never met in the top tier of English football, and will be playing each other for the first time since the 2010-11 season, when Saints beat the Cherries twice in League One, having also knocked them out of the League Cup. The day's other game saw struggling Sunderland visit Everton. The Black Cats won 2-0 at Goodison Park in May, a victory which dragged them out of the relegation zone. With another survival battle already seeming likely, they will be hoping for a similar result.
MOTD2 - 8th November 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's three Premier League matches - the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham, Liverpool against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa versus Manchester City. Arsenal have already beaten Spurs once this season, knocking them out of the League Cup in September, and the Gunners have lost just one of their last 26 home games against Tottenham in all competitions.
MOTD2 - 22nd November 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of Sunday's sole Premier League match as London rivals Tottenham and West Ham meet at White Hart Lane. The Hammers will be looking to continue an excellent record away from home this season that has seen them win at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. And having lost just once to Tottenham in their last five meetings in all competitions, Slaven Bilic's side will go into the game full of confidence. There is also a recap of all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's matches.
MOTD2 - 29th November 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's four mouthwatering Premier League games. A busy day's football begins with the visit of champions Chelsea to Tottenham as the west London side look to put a tricky start to the season behind them. Early-season surprise package West Ham take on West Brom, while Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool entertain Swansea at Anfield as the new Reds boss looks to stamp his authority on the Premier League. In a hectic day of Premier League action, title contenders Arsenal travel to Norwich City looking for a repeat of the 2-0 victory they claimed on their last trip to Carrow Road.
MOTD2 - 6th December 2015Mark Chapman introduces highlights and analysis of the day's Premier League clash between Newcastle and Liverpool, plus a round-up of Saturday's action. Newcastle entertain Liverpool at St James' Park looking to secure back-to-back home wins against the Reds. The Magpies' 1-0 win last season is their sole triumph in six meetings with Liverpool, a run that includes a 6-0 home defeat in April 2013.
MOTD2 - 13th December 2015Mark Chapman presents highlights of the day's three Premier League matches - Aston Villa against Arsenal, Tottenham versus Newcastle and Liverpool's game with West Brom. Villa and Arsenal met in last season's FA Cup final, with the Gunners running out emphatic 4-0 winners at Wembley. But Villa now have a new manager - Frenchman Remi Garde. He is an ex-Arsenal player who was Arsene Wenger's first signing when he took charge of the London side in 1996. Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham host Newcastle, who are chasing a third successive Premier League win at White Hart Lane. Meanwhile at Anfield, Liverpool face a West Brom side who are winless in their last four matches against the Reds. There's also a chance to see all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 21st December 2015Mark Chapman introduces highlights from the day's two Premier League games. Liverpool host Watford, having won the last three league meetings between the sides. However, Watford did win 1-0 on their first Premier League visit to Anfield, back in 1999, when Tommy Mooney's goal gave them a shock win. In the day's late kick-off, West Ham make the journey to south Wales to take on Swansea City. The Hammers have been unbeaten in the last five meetings between the sides and have looked an impressive outfit under new manager Slaven Bilic. So the Swans will need to show some of the fighting qualities that earned them a 1-1 draw in the corresponding fixture last season.
MOTD2 - 3rd January 2016Mark Chapman introduces highlights from the day's two Premier League games. In the lunchtime kick-off there's a London derby between Crystal Palace and Chelsea at Selhurst Park. The Eagles stunned Chelsea earlier this season with Joel Ward's late winner earning them their first victory at Stamford Bridge since 1982. However, Jose Mourinho's side won this fixture last season and the champions are keen to start the year with three points. In the day's late game, Tottenham make the journey to Merseyside to take on Everton. Spurs are unbeaten in six meetings with the Toffees and Harry Kane scored the winner when the teams met in this fixture on the final day of last season. Mauricio Pochettino hopes his Spurs team can take their impressive form into 2016, although they could only draw when the teams met at White Hart Lane earlier in the campaign.
MOTD2 - 17th January 2016Mark Chapman introduces highlights of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United and Arsenal's trip to Stoke. The meeting at Anfield between England's two most successful clubs is the latest in a fixture dating back more than 120 years. Manchester United have won the last three, including a 3-1 victory in September which was memorable for Christian Benteke's overhead kick and a stunning debut goal by Anthony Martial. Title hopefuls Arsenal have traditionally struggled at Stoke, only winning once in seven attempts in the Premier League. Stoke have already beaten Chelsea and Manchester City at the Britannia this season to underline their top-10 credentials.
MOTD2 - 24th January 2016Mark Chapman presents highlights of Sunday's Premier League matches, with Arsenal hosting Chelsea and Swansea City travelling to Everton. Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 in September, but that win has proved a rare bright spot in a disappointing season for the Blues, whose poor league form eventually cost manager Jose Mourinho his job. Things have gone more smoothly for long-serving Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, with the outstanding form of midfield playmaker Mesut Ozil helping the Gunners reach the new year top of the table - and hopeful of a first league title since 2004. Everton will also be hopeful of a strong end to the season, with the attacking talents of Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley giving them a real cutting edge. However, the Toffees have lacked consistency and will be keen to capitalise against a Swansea side who have faded after a good start to the campaign. There is also a chance to see all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 7th February 2016Jason Mohammad introduces action from Sunday's two Premier League matches, plus all the goals from Saturday's games. The lunchtime kick-off sees Arsenal travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth. The Cherries have exceeded expectations in their first-ever season in the top flight, yet still desperately need points in their battle to avoid the drop. Arsene Wenger's team began the year top of the table but there is a lot of work to be done before they can claim a first Premier League title for more than a decade. Chelsea and Manchester United have thwarted Arsenal on many occasions since The Gunners' last league success, but both clubs are struggling this season. The teams face each other at Stamford Bridge, with United looking for a first win in six meetings against the Blues.
MOTD2 - 14th February 2016Highlights and analysis of the day's three crucial Premier League matches. Arsenal's meeting with Leicester and Manchester City's game with Tottenham could both have major implications on the title race. The reverse fixtures earlier in the season generated a total of 12 goals as the Gunners ran out 5-2 winners at the King Power Stadium, whilst Tottenham thrashed Manchester City 4-1. The day's other game saw relegation-threatened Aston Villa face Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
MOTD2 - 28th February 2016Highlights and analysis of the day's two Premier League matches. Manchester United entertain Arsenal at Old Trafford, looking to bounce back from the 3-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Gunners in October's reverse fixture. High-flying Tottenham face struggling Swansea in the day's other match, with both sides needing points to help them fulfil their ambitions at either end of the table.
MOTD2 - 6th March 2016Mark Chapman introduces highlights of the day's two Premier League fixtures, with Crystal Palace hosting Liverpool and West Brom at home to Manchester United. Palace's hopes of qualifying for European competition have nosedived since Christmas, but they could take confidence from a run of three successive league wins against an inconsistent Liverpool ahead of their latest meeting. Manchester United have not lost to West Brom at the Hawthorns since 1984, but an end to that unbeaten run would be a considerable setback in their pursuit of Champions League qualification - and to Louis van Gaal's already fragile position as United's manager.
MOTD2 - 13th March 2016Mark Chapman presents highlights of today's Premier League game between Aston Villa and Tottenham. Relegation-threatened Villa face a tough task against in-form Spurs, who have emerged as surprise title challengers this season. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 3-1 in November, with Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Harry Kane on target. There's also a chance to see the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 20th March 2016Mark Chapman introduces highlights of Sunday's four Premier League fixtures, which include two derbies. Firstly, Newcastle host arch-rivals Sunderland, hoping to end their shocking run of form in this fixture. Sunderland have won a historic six successive matches against the Magpies, including three famous wins at St James' Park. Later, Manchester City take on cross-city rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. When they met earlier in the season in what was the 170th meeting between the sides, they played out a dire 0-0 draw. Plus highlights from Tottenham v Bournemouth and Southampton's match with Liverpool, and all the goals and major incidents from Saturday's games.
MOTD2 - 3rd April 2016Mark Chapman presents highlights from today's two Premier League matches and all the goals from yesterday's games. Leicester play Southampton, having fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point in the reverse fixture at St Mary's in October, a display which encapsulated their never-say-die approach that has put them firmly among the title contenders this season. In contrast, it has not been a vintage campaign by Manchester United's usual high standards. This afternoon the Reds host Everton, who have also underachieved so far this season. This fixture has thrown up some classic contests over the years, none more so that four years ago when the sides shared a 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.
MOTD2 - 10th April 2016Gabby Logan presents highlights from the day's three Premier League matches and all the goals from Saturday's games on a potentially crucial day in the battle for the title, with Tottenham and Leicester City both in action. The Foxes travel to the Stadium of Light to face relegation-threatened Sunderland, hoping for a repeat of their 4-2 victory over the Black Cats in Claudio Ranieri's opening game in charge last August. Title rivals Spurs, meanwhile, welcome Manchester United to White Hart Lane while Liverpool host Stoke.
MOTD2 - 17th April 2016Mark Chapman introduces highlights from Sunday's three Premier League fixtures, along with all the goals from Saturday's games. Title-chasing Leicester have been the surprise package of the season, but Slaven Bilic's West Ham have also impressed. The two sides met at the King Power Stadium with the hosts looking to complete a league double over the Hammers following their 2-1 away win in just the second game of their remarkable season. Arsenal hosted Crystal Palace, a fixture the Gunners have dominated during the Premier League era, having won 10 of 13 encounters. The day's other game saw Bournemouth play Liverpool with the Cherries seeking their first ever win over the Reds in either league or cup.
MOTD2 - 24th April 2016Jason Mohammad introduces highlights from the day's Premier League fixtures, headlined by the latest chapter in Leicester City's fairytale season as they continue their title pursuit against Swansea at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes haven't lost at home in this fixture since 1950 and won 3-0 in south Wales earlier this season courtesy of a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick. Arsenal's title hopes are seemingly remote, but they are still pushing for a 20th consecutive top-four finish and can ill-afford to slip up against struggling Sunderland, who have only won this fixture once in 15 years. Like Arsenal, Manchester City are looking to secure Champions League qualification, and they face a Stoke side vying for their highest Premier League finish.
MOTD2 - 1st May 2016Mark Chapman presents highlights of today's Premier League games, with Liverpool travelling to Swansea, Manchester United hosting Leicester and Southampton at home to Manchester City. Leicester's remarkable form this season has seen them mount an unexpected title challenge. The Foxes have already claimed stunning wins against Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea this term, so they will fancy their chances of securing a first win away to the Red Devils since 1998. Manchester City make the long journey south to face a Southampton side who will be hoping to secure a top-half finish for a third year in a row. City were champions in 2012 and 2014 but have been too inconsistent this season to challenge for a third Premier League title. Nonetheless, outgoing Manuel Pellegrini will hope to guide his side to a top-four spot before handing over the managerial reins to Pep Guardiola in the summer.
MOTD2 - 8th May 2016Mark Chapman presents highlights of Saturday's Premier League games, with Manchester City hosting Arsenal, Tottenham at home to Southampton and Liverpool taking on Watford. Tottenham have mounted an unexpected title challenge this season and they will be looking to complete the league double over Southampton, who they haven't lost to since 2005. Meanwhile Manchester City play their final home match of the season against fellow top-four challengers Arsenal. Outgoing manager Manuel Pellegrini will bid farewell to the City fans as he looks to finish the season on a high before handing over the managerial reins to Pep Guardiola in the summer.
